Welcome to Entertainment!

Term 1 Lesson 1 2014 

This is the beginning of your HSC Preliminary course (which includes Year 10 students).

At the end of this lesson complete the following tasks (when posting please use your initials/nickname)

Log on to a computer and register your contact details for workplacement.

Go to vetentertainment.blogspot.com.au and enter your email address in the Follow by Email Box. Enter the verification code in the confirmation box and submit.  Please submit an email address that you will regularly use for this course.

  1. Collapse the Entertainment Archive link (on the left hand side). The Archive contains weekly class posts by the most recent date of entry.
  2. Find the tab Course Information Page to view the content covered today.  Read through all posts.
  3. Post a comment at the end of the Course Information Page.  Copy, paste and complete the following sentence - “The Vetentertainment  blog provides lots of important information ............".  
  4. Click the interesting Reactions Box  and the G+1 Recommend this on Google button for all posts on this page.
  5. Find and open the Regional Validated Task 1 – Participate in OHS. Email the task to your vet email account. Place in the email subject - Term 1 Week 3 Competency Assessment Task 1 - Participate in OHS version 1.
  6. Find and open the HSC BOS Resource links. Click on Syllabus A (this will take you to webpage where you can download the document. Please notify your teacher when this task is complete.
  7. Find the Production Resources Tab at the top of the page, observe the contents, and download and open Stage Plot 1 and Input List.
  8. Find and open the Production Notes tab. Read the post.

    1.Why have you chosen to study the ENTERTAINMENT course?
    I have chosen to study the course VET Entertainment because I find the subject interesting, as I do music, I want to be able to do the more complex and technical side of music.
    How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC?
    VET is different to other classes as VET courses are threw out one-two years, and is held on an afternoon during the week. Vet entertainment is different to other classes as in entertainment you do work placement and in your other classes you don’t do work placement. Vet courses counts towards my HSC requirements.
    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve?
    The things that I want to achieve in VET Entertainment course is learning how to set up and organise for a concert/shows for example the sound, lighting, and staging etc.
    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)?
    A little bit to do with sound, I have great communication skills, good with problem solving, I am an effective team worker, I have helped set up events such as the school concert (Windsor on stage 2013).
    5. What two areas of Entertainment would you like to specialize in?
    Staging, backstage, sound and lighting. (All of it)
    6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course?
    It is important to have regular meeting as you can discuss what you will be learning in class with each other.
    7. How can we improve communication in this course with reference to work placement and course work?
    Get all the phone numbers and emails from all the class mates.
    8. Why do you need to check the vet entertainment blog once a week or at least 24 hours before class?
    The reason why you need to check the VET Entertainment blog once a week or at least 24 hours before class is to see what I will be doing in the class and to have a good idea of what you will be learning in class. It is also a good idea to check the site to see the tasks that have been set up for you.

    Because it interested me and it’s a skill I feel I should have for job the I want.
    2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC? Because it involves a lot of prac and runs on an afternoon, and goes over two years

    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve?

    I want to be able to set up sound , stage and lighting equipment, and gather confidence.
    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)?
    I feel I’m good with communication; I can work as part of a team, but haven’t really had any experience with the technical side.

    5. What two areas of Entertainment would you like to specialize in?
    Sound and lighting.

    6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course?
    have evidence for the paper fork so we can be marked competent, and to meet up to discuss our learning and tasks.


    7. How can we improve communication in this course with reference to work placement and course work?
    Check emails regularly and stay in contact with other class member, through social media.

    To check the lesson plan for the class and to see if you have any tasks

  3. 1. Why have you chosen to study the ENTERTAINMENT course?
    I have chosen to study the Entertainment course because it seemed very interesting and I would like to learn about how to work behind the scenes of events, and just learn about how everything is done technically as it was really appealing. My brother also took the course a few years ago and from hearing about it, sparked my interest.
    2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC?
    VET is different to other classes/courses I would otherwise study for my HSC because it is planned out differently. It is held on one day during the week, each week over the span of one-two years. This VET course is very practical and you have to be independent and you will also do work placement unlike other HSC courses run at school.
    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve?
    My learning goals for this year would be to learn how to use a sound desk, lighting and just to be able to go out and assemble an event. I would like to just try and learn as much as possible.
    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)?
    I don’t have much experience with working in Entertainment but I believe I am an effective team worker and I have pretty good communication skills, I have helped with day camps and fetes.
    5. What two areas of Entertainment would you like to specialize in?
    I would really like to just learn about everything first as I haven’t really experienced much to do with entertainment but I am pretty interested in the backstage and sound aspects.
    6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course?
    They are very important as you can see how far everyone has gotten and learnt and just learn more on a regular basis.
    7. How can we improve communication in this course with reference to workplacement and course work?
    Get everyones contact details.
    8. Why do you need to check the vet entertainment blog once a week or at least 24 hours before class?
    To make sure you have an idea of what we will be learning in class and just keep up to date on all our work.

  4. 1. Why have you chosen to study the ENTERTAINMENT course? I thought I'd enjoy entertainment, and I'd like to gain knowledge.

    2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC. VET is different to other classes because it runs one/two years, and is held once a week, during the afternoon and you also do workplacement

    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve? I want to learn how to do the lighting, sound, vision, staging etc & I want to be able to organise and set up concerts/shows

    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)? I am well organised, an effective team worker, and a very punctual person, though I have no experience with the technical side of entertainment, though I'm keen to learn.

    5. What two areas of Entertainment would you like to specialize in? Sound & lighting, possibly staging/vision

    6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course? Regular meetings are important to get everyone update on what's happening and on task.

    7. How can we improve communication in this course with reference to workplacement and course work? stay in contact with class members, get everyone's details, possibly use social networking to keep in contact.

    8. Why do you need to check the vet entertainment blog once a week or at least 24 hours before class? Checking the entertainment blog will keep you undated on what's happening, keep you on task & aware what you'll be doing in class.

  5. 1. Why have you chosen to study the ENTERTAINMENT course?
    - I was interested in the course and I want to help setting up for concerts and other events.

    2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC?
    - VET goes for like 3 or more hours once a week, runs 1-2 years, do more practical work and can get work experience unlike other courses.

    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve?
    - I want to achieve the knowledge of using all the equipment, setting up for concerts and events and learning new skills.

    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)?
    - I experienced working in Entertainment during the Riverview music performance. I helped out setting the equipment like putting cables into channels, speakers, mixer and mics. I also helped out setting for the school concert and other school events.

    5. What two areas of Entertainment would you like to specialize in?
    - I want to specialize in every area if possible. :)

    6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course?
    - So that we can discuss and plan everything before doing a task or setting up an event, gain more skills and improve communication with each other.

    7. How can we improve communication in this course with reference to workplacement and course work?
    - By respecting everyone and their diversity, getting everyone's contact details/emails, have meetings and using signage.

    8. Why do you need to check the vet entertainment blog once a week or at least 24 hours before class?
    - To be up to date with all the tasks, assignments and information.

  6. 1. Why have you chosen to study the ENTERTAINMENT course? because it looked like a fun subject plus family

    2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC? It goes longer and has more inderpendent learning more trust from the teacher

    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve? I want to be able to set up a sound system and mic set

    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)? i was a prefect in primary school and learned how to set up a pa system but not really anything esle

    5. What two areas of Entertainment would you like to specialize in? sound and people

    6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course?
    because it shows ur input and that u pay attenion

  8. 1. Why have you chosen to study the ENTERTAINMENT course?
    I have chosen to study this because I enjoy the aspects of the course and the cert.3 is very nice
    2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC?
    Vet differs from other courses because the classes are longer and go into the afternoon. They are also heavily prac related.
    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve?
    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)?
    None, yet.

    Stage and front of house

    So everybody is on the same page and thoughts are shared

    Keeping in contact with eachother

  10. 1. Why have you chosen to study the ENTERTAINMENT course? I have an interest in learning about the behind-the-scenes to concerts and the like. I believe it would also help me with my other subjects, Music and Drama.
    2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC? You get first-hand experience with the equipment you'll be learning to use, instead of having it all theory-based.
    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve? I would like to learn how to use a sound desk, how to organise lighting and even how to set up and organise events. I feel as though it'll help me with my future career choice.
    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)? I have basic knowledge when it comes to the sound desk, mainly to do with helping Mr. Bonaccorso when practicing in the hall. I'm also good with organisation nd can work effectively in a team.
    5. What two areas of Entertainment would you like to specialize in? Sound and Organising Events.
    6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course? To discuss and reflect on tasks in class, as well as show your competency which is required for all TAFE courses.

    2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC? Entertainment is more practical than theory and therefore is more fun.
    3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve? I want to learn more about lighting and sound and vision, and how I can utilise them to the best of my ability.
    4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)? I have experience with lighting and sound, and staging.
    5. What two areas of Entertainment would you like to specialize in? Staging and lighting.
    6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course? To recollect data and discuss problems and opportunities within the team.
    7. How can we improve communication in this course with reference to workplacement and course work? Keeping contact with the other teammembers and having respect for eachother.
