Welcome to Entertainment!

Term 1 Lesson 1 2014 

This is the beginning of your HSC Preliminary course (which includes Year 10 students). 

Course Introduction and Overview:
  • Course organisation, venue and materials
  • VET information, including AQF requirements, RPL, work placement, indicative hours, right to appeal, materials, fees
  • The Assessment Schedule
  • Competency based assessment vs. HSC assessment
  • 2014 workplacement and entertainment work parties
  • BOS attendance requirements
  • BOS resources and syllabus
  • The vetentertainment.blogspot.com.au
  • information regarding plagiarism and ethical practice
At the end of this lesson complete the following tasks (when posting please use your initials/nickname)

Task 1
Log on to a computer and register your contact details for workplacement. 
Register here: 

This task is mandatory and no workplacement can be commenced without registration.

Task 2
Go to vetentertainment.blogspot.com.au and enter your email address in the Follow by Email Box. Enter the verification code in the confirmation box and submit.  Please submit an email address that you will regularly use for this course. 

Task 3
Go to the Contact Box labelled Contact Mr B. 
Copy and paste the information below in the message box and add your information:

Task 4
To ensure you can navigate this website complete the following activities:
  1. Collapse the Entertainment Archive link (on the left hand side). The Archive contains weekly class posts by the most recent date of entry.
  2. Find the tab Course Information Page to view the content covered today.  Read through all posts.
  3. Post a comment at the end of the Course Information Page.  Copy, paste and complete the following sentence - “The Vetentertainment  blog provides lots of important information ............".  
  4. Click the interesting Reactions Box  and the G+1 Recommend this on Google button for all posts on this page.
  5. Find and open the Regional Validated Task 1 – Participate in OHS. Email the task to your vet email account. Place in the email subject - Term 1 Week 3 Competency Assessment Task 1 - Participate in OHS version 1.
  6. Find and open the HSC BOS Resource links. Click on Syllabus A (this will take you to webpage where you can download the document. Please notify your teacher when this task is complete.
  7. Find the Production Resources Tab at the top of the page, observe the contents, and download and open Stage Plot 1 and Input List.
  8. Find and open the Production Notes tab. Read the post.
Task 5
Post your responses to the questions below on the Welcome to Entertainment post. There is no need to write the question, just copy and paste and write your answers. One or two sentences per question will be sufficient. Don’t forget to click on the G+1 Recommend this on Google and the Reactions Box.

Entertainment and Me
1. Why have you chosen to study the ENTERTAINMENT course?
2. How is VET different to other classes/courses you could study for your HSC?
3. What are your LEARNING GOALS for this course/year, i.e. what are two or three things you want to achieve?
4. Describe the Entertainment skills you may already have or any experiences working in Entertainment. (e.g. sound, lighting, vision, staging, customer service, organisation, good communication skills, effective team worker, working on productions, setting up events, etc)?

6. Why are regular meetings and the taking of minutes important in this course?
